Creative Writing ChallengeLetting my imagination run wild.
MOVIE NIGHT!! My grandma screams as she sees me walk through the front door as the sun dies down over the horizon. After a long day I was exhausted I just wanted to put my stuff down and jump into the shower and relax . She had her mind set, everything she wanted to do, the movie she wanted to see, what snacks she wanted to eat, it was a list that went on endlessly and I forgot I had promised her I would have a movie night. First thing I looked for was the movie list to see at least if we were going to have a good night also depended on what kind of mood we were in. Well the first movie was Zathora, My Favorite. Half way into the movie during the scene of the Zorgons I start getting tunnel vision and k.o. Woken up in my dreams by this bright neon green light that lit up my whole room. Felt light green lantern just entered my room. Gravity started to be non exce33sting all objects including me started floating. As I thought I was going crazy I was only in a dream. I was getting abducted! Getting pulled by this force slamming me through the ceiling and roof I can see in the distance this circular flying object, it had a metallic hard shinny coat with electronics that would camouflage there whole craft to make it look like anything that’s above it, if not camouflage then it will have these green glowing symbols inside of circles that had to mean something that was not understandable. As I float up into the craft i hear this very distinct voice, raspy and sounded as if three different accent where combined with English, they were trying to communicate with me. As the motherboard closes under my feet im trapped in this dark room with no vision possible. I search around grabbing trying to fell for a switch but nothing fells normal, I end up grabbing something very hairy and as I keep trying to figure out what it is I reach something that was very unpleasant. This slimy, gushy felling in my hands made my spin chill I make a fist and I fell it gushing through my fingers as if it was water. What fells like hours were minutes but as I find a way to get comfortable the lights turn on and I couldn’t believe my eyes. In front of me were these, what looked like food sources for what had abducted me, spider looking 6 eyed 4 legged creations. Doors slowly start swinging open and these two creatures start sliding towards me leaving a trail of green slime. They tried telling me to follow them but they were only able to understand and communicate between themselves. I followed them up to there As the floor was glass I could see everything under me the view was more than beautiful as we passed over clouds I could see the world as if it was an ant pile. People moving on with there every day life, the water crashing against the shore.(couldn’t finish in time and i did number 4 instead of 5 because i never did the 4th one and this one was easiest) |
Creative Writing ChallengeSleep
I get out of my car after a short drive back home. It’s a nice Tuesday night; the breeze runs through my hair as I walk up my driveway (WEATHER 1). After a long day at work, I’m ready to hit the hay. I take a minute to study my childhood home; the place I grew up. From the dim porch light to the off-white shutters that need to be cleaned, this place has been and always will be home (DWELL)(HOME 1). I scroll through my phone as I make my way to the front door with the welcome mat. This mat has been here since I was a toddler. After I make my way inside, I head upstairs to go to bed. I poke my head in my parent’s room to whisper a goodnight, and then head to the bathroom to brush my teeth. As I do so, my dog rubs against my leg, craving attention. I reach down and run my fingers through his soft, thick fur (HAIR)(TEXT 1). I head to my room and throw on some pajamas and music. I collapse into my bed, exhausted after a hard day’s work. I study the beats of the song playing until I slowly fade into sleep. I’m woken by chills running through my body. I swiftly open my eyes to see a starry night sky above my head, but everything else is dark (LIGHT 1). But it’s not a regular starry night; it seems as if milky ways are dancing over my head, swirling and spinning. I crawl to the edge of my bed and try to stand. Instead of feeling my fuzzy, plush carpet, I feel cold, smooth floor instead. I proceed to stand up and observe my surroundings. Stumbling through the darkness, the feeling of loneliness engulfs me (LONE). I call out for someone, but only silence is returned. I look over my shoulder for any signs of life, and far off into the distance, there’s a speck of light. I begin walking, running, sprinting towards the orb to soon realize it is a house. As I run, a slimy substance coats the bottom of my feet. I try to wipe it off, but it just spreads it to other parts of my body (TEXT 2)(SLIME). I decide to ignore it and focus on reaching the house. As I get closer, I realize it is my home, but some things are wrong. The light on the porch is extremely bright and fluorescent. The shutters glow a neon pink color in the dark, and the walls glow purple (GLOW). I step foot on the porch and read the mat at my front door; it says goodbye instead of welcome. I jiggle the doorknob to see if the door is locked, and it is. I then realize there’s a weird symbol painted on my front door. I sit and try to decipher it, but I’m lost (SYMBOL). I slowly back away from the door, making my way around the house to the back porch. It’s a comfortable temperature outside, but I feel like I can’t breathe because of the humidity in the air (WEATHER 2). Everything seems to be illuminated by a black light; I soon realize the leaves on the trees are glowing. I notice a small circle sitting on the leaf of a plant. I get close and observe it, and all of a sudden, it starts to shake. After a moment, the orb cracks open and a small fluorescent butterfly pauses and then flutters away (HATCH). Out of nowhere, I begin floating. I rise higher and higher in the air in sync with the butterfly. Soon, I’m staring straight down at the ceiling of my house (AREAL). I look around to see the butterfly has disappeared, and I start falling. I scream as I fall faster and faster towards my house. I shut my eyes hard right before I hit the ceiling, just to open them to find myself in my own bed. I feel around and my once comfortable sheets are now stiff and unenjoyable (TEXT 3). Everything is dim and still glowing, so I can’t see well (LIGHT 2). As I come to my senses, my door slowly starts to open, and I hear panting. I curl up to the corner of my bed as a creature on four legs crawls towards me. I soon realize there’s nothing to be scared of, it’s just my dog! As I motion for him to come, his head darts up and looks at me, and his face is completely covered in eyes (BODY 1)(EYES). I scream in horror, and this makes him run, with the door slamming shut behind him. I run toward the door, noticing there’s another symbol on it, and try to open it, but to no avail. There’s a small screen where the key hole should be. I notice that it’s the same size as my phone, so I grab it off my nightstand and hold it against the screen below the doorknob, and the door opens (OBJECT). As I explore through my house, I remember that my parents were sleeping. I walk down the hallway and slowly grab and open my parents’ bedroom door. They’re fast asleep. I turn around to walk out of the room when suddenly; the figures in the bed sit up, exposing how my parents now looked. Their skin was dark and saggy, and their eyes were large and purple. They were slowly swaying back and forth with their eyes locked on me (BODY 1). Then, the creature that’s supposed to be my father raises his hand and does some sort of signal to my mom (GEST). I feel fear rush over my body as I slowly try to back out of the room (BODY 2). My mom turns her body to get out of bed, and a high-pitched but muffled voice begins to talk in some language I have never heard of nor understood (VOICE)(DIF). She looks at my father and he nods his head up and down (BODY 3). The creature slowly starts to walk toward me, and I bolt out of the door and run down the stairs into the living room. I catch a glimpse of the outside world and it appears to be snowing (WEATHER 3). I’m so entangled in confusion and hatred for this place, and I just want to be back home. Before I even realized what I was doing, I grabbed a vase and throw it at the wall and it shatters. I go on a montage of wrecking my living room (FMV). In the middle of my rampage, I notice a book with symbol that was on the front door on the cover of the book. I open the book and study the first symbol, and it means ‘sleep’. This is the symbol that was on my bedroom door! I think to myself that maybe if I go to sleep in the bed upstairs, this whole thing will end (SIG). The lights are flickering in this eerie house as I run back to my bedroom (LIGHT 3). I notice, as I run by the window, that it’s raining and it looks like a huge storm is brewing up in the clouds (WEATHER 4). As I go to open my bedroom door, I realize there is a weird gadget in the place of a doorknob. I fidget with the buttons and such when I realize there’s a small hole at the top (TECH). I think back on the night I had before all of this went down, and I only used one other object: my toothbrush. I run into the bathroom and open the cabinets to find my toothbrush in its proper place. I use it on the gadget attached to my room and miraculously, the door opens (OBJECT). I swiftly crawl under the sheets and lay my head down. I notice that the weather has changed again; it’s now a bright, sunny day outside (WEATHER 5). As I’m closing my curtains to block out the sunlight, the same fluorescent butterfly comes in and perches on a jar on my nightstand (LIGHT 4). The butterfly seems to dance on top of it, as if she’s motioning me to open it (BODY 4). I hesitantly reach for the jar and open it. There’s a baby pink powder in it that seemed to shimmer with movement. I rub some in between my fingers and it feels very powdery (TEXT 4). I notice it has a very sweet scent, and I bring some closer to my nose to get a better whiff. I inhale, and the powder rushed up my nose. I cough wildly, gasping for fresh air. Suddenly, I’m groggy and the whole room starts spinning. I black out. I wake up, and it seems as if I’m floating in space. I panic and sit up, only to notice that I’m riding a cloud of the pink powder (TRANS). I get groggy again, and as I’m slowly shifting back into sleep, I watch the sky switch from day to night every few seconds (LIGHT 5). I notice two blue objects in the sky. As I study them, I realize they are two bright blue eyes watching my every move (INTELLIGENCE). All of a sudden, I’m falling. I try to scream but no sounds come out of my mouth. It seems as if I’m falling for an eternity when it all just stops. I open my eyes to see my family gathered around me in a bright, white hospital room. I’m wearing a thin, scratchy hospital gown, and IVs are hooked into my arm (TEXT 5). My family looks hesitant to talk to me, as they keep looking away when I make eye contact with them (BODY 5). My mom finally explains, “Taz, do you remember anything? You went to sleep about a week ago and the next morning you were missing. We looked everywhere for you, and a police officer found you this morning in the middle of our road. Where have you been?” I didn’t really know how to answer her, partly because I thought everything was just a dream. As the medicine in my IV pumps through my body, I get sleepy again. I look around the room one last time to notice something off about my reflection in the stainless steel drawers beside me. My eyes are now a fluorescent blue color, instead of the generic brown that I’m used to. With that, I slowly slip into the darkness once more. |
Creative Writing ChallengeI liked how this assignment makes me think about all the things to just be able to write this creative writing. It blows my mind how Robots and dreams and kids can all be connected and make a sequence of events that makes a story. What I didn’t like about this assignment is that I had to do it last minute because I was out sick last class and I didn’t remember that we had to do it.
Robots As the light dims down and the surroundings start getting darker, I start fading away into my world of imagination. Right before my tunnel vision closed off the last thing I glanced at was this droid I created when I was a little kid laying on my desk pointed right at me, it that was controlled by a remote. As my eyes sprung open in my dreams I knew already I was in my dreams. Cool fact, your mind will create dreams on the thoughts processed by your brain before you fall into a deep sleep. Having my mind thinking about robots I fell into a dream I felt I had no control over, the bots had a mind of their own. With the first sight of images that flashed in front of me once my eyes opened I was in shock, looking through the eyes of an engineer at work building a model for a new invention I used my imagination and start building parts left and right like the green lantern could with his ring. Never being able to fully see what I wanted for my outcome I just keep building what I imagined to always be my favorite childhood toy. My own new and improved transformer! I gave him a mind and a body to never die out or brake, I was bullied as a kid and had no friends so I made myself one so that all kids can have a friend. He walked talked and danced like a golem, so stiff and tall it stood it was unbreakable. After my invention came out in my dreams I saw them everywhere on the streets. After waking up and passing through another full day of hell in class I come back home to jump back into my cozy soft cloud like bed to nap and get back into my dreams. Awaken in my dreams now again I see that my new invention has overpowered my command and now has a mind of its own. It thinks for itself controls itself and i made it indestructible. |
