SLIPS
Slip 1Will the world be able to keep up with the technology? With careers uprising from the simplest engineers to the most complex there are different areas of interest to be acknowledge in future tech. The world is progressing and expanding to extremes as be believe the future will hold a lot, Putting all the engineering heads together you can tell that they come up with the most amazing inventions and are progressing very rapidly. The news shows us progress of military robots that are able to maneuver and think for itself making it have human characteristics. Will the world one day get over run by them or will we be able to control there expansion? In my belief since we are the brains in the operation they will be expanded to a certain extend to not be able to overrun humanity. No one knows maybe one day an experiment can have a bad outcome and they might not be able to sustain the experiment like in robo cop, when they where able to over run the software and turn the robot that only enforced the law was now turning on all. With doctors coming out with new inventions to help the veterans that lost a limb at war or to help the baby's that are born needing amputees. These new robotic arms and legs get connected to the brain and they are able to control them like there own but now they have created dogs that carry lounge in the military that has a sensor and a mind of its on it can run climb skip jump and more. They are trying to add artillery on it to be a campaign to the soldiers and help our troops out in war. But if you see the negative side like much do the dog can easily be with computer machinists they can hack into the dog and make it turn on our own and have friendly fire. Also in mind you need to realize that we are the makers of it so we should keep in mind that the enemies are also able to make them and also can overrun the software if the machines are wireless making them just as deadly for us. With all engineers putting work for the future and technology advancing on the daily we cant tell how the future will be, flying cars?, projector phones?, glasses with gps and headphones for calls?, and so on there will be many new inventions that improve the world in many different ways like the new invention they made the cegaway for transportation, next thing you know they will make hover bored cegways. They also made these google glasses that you can see everything from your phone screen on the glasses, you also have to see how this can make a big affect from this distraction if you take your vision from whats in front of you and your mind is focused on whats on your glasses and not whats in front of you. Also cars will get faster , engines will get bigger and will be more deadly on the streets, even tho they are improving cars to avoid crashes they will not be able to instantly stop a car going faster then 50mph. Facing new things every day I choice to join the engineering career because technology will always advance and cars/engineers are going to always have jobs and I want to be helping out building better cars engines and safer transportation for the future. As engines are my passion I want to be able to one day build an invention that will blow the minds of everyone and be able to upgrade and be able to have my own company starting small with a car business and work my way up to selling my invention as the Segway got my attention I believe that my invention will be related to it. Also the dog that is a companion to our fellow alley soldiers helping troops on the ground transport there lounge and artillery to be able to travel long distances without “killing” our troops from exhaustion. The “dog” robot has a mind of its own maneuvering threw the woods and hills being able to sprint and jog none stop, carrying water and food and all the essentials to be able to stay alive for the troops Letting them travel longer and more efficiently in there missions.

Slip 2Why Do We Believe Dreams Are So Real While We're Dreaming?
You can be in a deep state of mind taking a nap and then all of a sudden BOOM your eyes open and all the feelings that where in your imagination come to life. For example I bet everyone has had the falling dream, Once your mind goes into a deep conscious state that we call sleep it activates the memories in ones mind to be able to create a story that never has to come out to be nonsensical. With areas of the brain triggered sustaining the memory your mind will always put two and two together and create a scenario out of it. When being kids our mind just like a muscle will always have a mind of its own and will always be able to grow if worked on hard enough, just like every other muscle in your body. Getting chased by monsters, eaten by zombies, scared by ghost, abducted by aliens, all dreams people would have or if you want to call it nightmares, if they turn out trying to kill you. With this imagination I had as a little kid I would be turning nightmares into prolong games to see if I could win playing with my dreams and then mixing reality into it. Remembering dreams from back when I was a kid was always hard to do but easy to make up and create different endings for because my body would always wake me up before anything got severe like me dying in my sleep. Waking up in complete shock with my heart racing and my palms sweating was never a fun thing to do but always managed to catch up to me in the end. Also what makes dreams go more into reality your mind takes the information and thoughts gathered from the period you close your eyes to sleep till your body is paralyzed and putts it into play in your dreams. Once your mind goes into a state of deep dreaming and you imagine yourself in the setting your body has no control of your reactions, making people twitch to sometimes wake back up or even some people like my grandma talks in her sleep meaning even though the body is shut off her mind is still thinking and having relapses of everything she has stored in her brain. You are able to remember the dream in the morning once woken up but if not remembered then it will be forever forgotten. The brain will only remember if it was about someone you know that was in your dream or about a work experience you will be able to in reality still think about and it will sometimes affect your emotions or state of mind about someone. The mind is a very powerful source to let your imaginations and thoughts run wild. Dreaming with real life scenarios is not always fun but sometimes very funny. Let’s say you dream about having a really big party and everyone’s over having a great time then your best friend shows up and by the end of the nights gets so drunk he ends up peeing himself, keep in mind your still in the dream, well you wake up lapping and remember the dream later that morning you show p to class and see your friend and you just start busting out lapping at him. He doesn’t know why you’re lapping and he’s looking confused. Your mind was able to make that dream into a reality visual. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dreamscloud/dreams-feel-real_b_5652045.html Description: this link has help me be able to realize how the mind works and some key facts that I needed to know to be able to write this slip about the brain and dreaming. It talks about how your body reacts when sleeping and how your mind is able to only remember certain things also not being able to remember things when a little kid. Also how the minds different from when we are little to when we are grown adults and our mind has developed. Explanation: this slip ties into my semester-long inquiry project because of the fact that we are talking about dreams within dreams making reality not so real. But learning how the mind works and being able to plug things into your mind and make it into a story to then make into a dream is very fascinating and also my next topic that I want to look up is if someone is born blind I wonder what they have imaginations about or how are they able to see their thoughts. http://www.today.com/id/17876281/ns/today-today_health/t/most-common-dreams-what-they-mean/#.VfbUUxFViko Describing: This source was one of the first things I ever looked up to be able to see if people sometimes have the same dreams and what there meanings are behind it. Like the falling, getting chased, the teeth getting pulled out or falling off, the back to school one sucks because it’s true, a loved one cheating, ext the list can go on. Explanations: this connects with the inquiry project are very prestige. They both have a connection to dreaming and being able to connect with others in their dreams and to also show you how every dream has a meaning to it. Also showing how reality plotting can be used in your dreams making it have more of a real felling that makes your dreams easier to remember. |
Slip 6As I write my last slip I foresee what needs to be done to finish up this class with a strong holding grade. Looking at my whole semester and all the work I have done for this class, I realize we need to now go back pick our favorite one and work on it to perfection for the final project. I have had to incorporate imagination and the limits of dreaming to the general topic of engineering WITH a main topic that was set by the teacher. Writing about aliens for my last creative writing challenge inspired me to go see all different types of alien movies and see what would spark up my lightbulb when writing if I get writers block. Well with the two cites i picked the first picture because I read through the rules and when reading it I thought about the movie chicken little and that became the plot of my writing for an imagination making me think as if I went into a dream and woke up in my dream to then have something fall from the sky and knock me onto the floor then realize I was in a dream to then being abducted by them. Now with the second picture that I posted was another movie I saw called zathura, it completed more than 50% of the rules needed to be followed. With connecting that with the animal with more than two eyes, the slime, having something hairy, the concept of loneliness, written symbols that are not understood by everyone in the story, description of the sky, ext. I’m more than convinced I think my teacher was watching Zathura when writing the rules for the homework. Zathura inspired most of my story with pushing my imagination into different themes I can do and what things I can pull out of this movie and create my own twist to it. My movie plot will be also combined with imagination pushing my limits to physically none. In your dreams your imagination runs wiled and you can make and build/ create anything possible. Meaning my story can have one legged cows with 10 eyes or aliens with tentacles as arms and arms as legs or flubber looking aliens that fly around on craft, my plot will be a mix of both movies chicken littles beginning about how he gets hit in the head by a stop sign shaped metal piece of a UFO to then his friend fishy getting abducted so In my case I would be getting captured and then it moves into a plot like zathura when Danny, Walters little brother, going into the spaceship and finding all that foreign/alien stuff and gets creeped out. Also including when the sheep with 6 eyes had slimy green manure, following one of the rules. To then back waking up in my bed by the sun cracking over the horizon lighting up my room, waking me up and start a new day in my life. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y176/edwardiii/goat2.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.ilxor.com/ILX/ThreadSelectedControllerServlet?boardid%3D60%26threadid%3D6116&h=451&w=847&tbnid=Ck5dKLWiJxbE0M:&docid=IZ-w8IbNt36h3M&ei=TNwwVrXvHIjbmQGLua2wCg&tbm=isch&ved=0CB4QMygCMAJqFQoTCLXF9-uw5cgCFYhtJgodi1wLpg http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://images.fanpop.com/images/image_uploads/Chicken-Little-classic-disney-218721_445_243.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.fanpop.com/clubs/classic-disney/images/218721/title/chicken-little-photo&h=243&w=445&tbnid=qyBnvT8rPMzOeM:&docid=ODppku_9tWIKNM&ei=mtwwVrqGN8qNmQGd_onoCQ&tbm=isch&ved=0CJIBEDMoWTBZahUKEwi6u6qRseXIAhXKRiYKHR1_Ap0 |
Slip 9
With day to day interactions get easier because of technology it can also destroy society.
With the imagination that runs wild in everyone’s head on a day to day basses, especially believe it or not when you’re sleeping. My choice to connect imagination to my Engineering topic was a brilliant idea because of the fact that the imagination is what has made the life we live today. With transportation, communication, society has many everyday use objects all needed to be imagined once before documented or even sketched out to become a product.
Life now a day is very confusing, let’s say one day I am riding my hover board I will make friends with so many people because it catches there attention and then I have people asking questions and it’s a friendly day and I make a handful of friends throughout the day. I’ve seen people fall like gravity did not like them and I have seen people just jump on and be able to adapt so quickly to it. Then on the other side one day I would be in the library or lunch tables and it really is mission impossible to try and make a friend. Everyone has an imaginary wall block that’s either headphones, or facetime, or better yet it could just be a person having a bad day, I usually get those “I hate my life why am I here” type faces. With life changing so rapidly because of the new products that are being used in everyday life I believe to see it as a good progress even though it could be moving too quickly for society we are the ones controlling and practically hand building these machines to make life so much easier, society is what makes the progress with the connection to imagination to be able to look at a handful of things and throw it all into creating the most reliable and user friendly device or machine or object that can come out of the problem. A lot of inventors where all once humans just like me, you, and everyone else, but they had a SPARK if you will and where able to turn that thought or creation into reality because of their determination and also some people just have really good connections to be able to get what they want done for them after they have the thought.
One famous person that still till this day is talked about as one of the smartest and creative people in the world. Steve Jobs, This man started his business in his garage and then made it worth more than he could handle. Apple is now one of the top 3 most richest company’s and it all started off as a thought by a single man in his garage.
That’s what has made this world a different place from back then and having to communicate to now a day and just calling someone up or snapchat a picture or iPhone? Why not facetime.

The Computer that was first ever built:
Just an example on how the world started and how it has turned into what it is now. It is honestly Astounding how they have advanced that quickly the first general-purpose computer, the nearly 30-ton ENIAC (1947), contains 18,000 vacuum tubes, 70,000 resistors and 10,000 capacitors. In 1959, the INTEGRATED CIRCUIT puts those innards on one tiny chip. Before the entire world is networked, there is the Arpanet four computers linked in 1969. It introduces the concept of "packet switching," which simultaneously delivers messages as short units and reassembles them at their destination. The Apple II, Commodore Pet and Radio Shack's TRS-80 are introduced in 1977—four years before IBM, soon to become synonymous with the term "PC," unveils its personal computer. In 1989, Sir Tim Berners-Lee creates "hypertext markup language" to make Web pages and the "Uniform Resource Locator” to identify where information is stored. These breakthroughs form the foundation of the WORLD WIDE WEB. The ENIAC was invented by J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly at the University of Pennsylvania and began construction in 1943 and was not completed until 1946. It occupied about 1,800 square feet and used about 18,000 vacuum tubes, weighing almost 50 tons.
